LEGAL
Privacy Notice
This notice explains what Broadacre Productions does with personal information when you contact us, work with us or use this website. The aim is to keep it clear and practical rather than hide the important bits in legal language.
1. Who is responsible for your information?
Broadacre Productions is the trading name of George Richardson, a sole trader based in England. George Richardson is responsible for the personal information described in this notice.
Email: George.Richardson@broadacreproductions.com · Contact form
Business address: 15 Main Street, Newtown Linford, LE6 0AE
2. What information we may collect
Depending on how you deal with Broadacre, this may include:
- your name, job title, organisation and contact details;
- emails, contact-form messages and other correspondence;
- project briefs, quotations, contracts, schedules and production information;
- invoice, payment and accounting information;
- information supplied by contributors, clients or production partners where it is relevant to a production; and
- limited technical information created by our website or hosting provider, such as routine server and security logs.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely needed for the enquiry or production and you are comfortable providing it.
3. Why we use personal information
We use personal information where reasonably necessary to:
- respond to enquiries and discuss potential work;
- prepare quotations and enter into or perform contracts;
- plan, film, edit, deliver and administer productions;
- communicate with clients, contributors, suppliers and production partners;
- issue invoices, keep accounting records and meet tax or other legal obligations;
- protect our rights, equipment, systems and business; and
- maintain appropriate production, editorial and compliance records.
4. Our legal bases
The legal basis depends on the situation. Most day-to-day business use is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract, to perform a contract, to meet a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in running a production business and keeping appropriate records. Where the law requires consent for a particular use, we will ask for it and you can withdraw it for future use.
5. Who we may share information with
We do not sell personal information. We may share it only where reasonably necessary with people or organisations involved in the work, such as clients, broadcasters, production companies, freelance crew, production suppliers, accountants or other professional advisers, and providers of email, cloud storage, hosting or other business systems. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to do so.
We aim to share only what is needed for the relevant purpose and expect service providers handling information for us to protect it appropriately.
6. Information processed outside the UK
Some technology and production service providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will rely on an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism or other recognised safeguard.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including project delivery, editorial or production records, resolving disputes, and tax, accounting or other legal requirements. Different records therefore have different retention periods. When information is no longer reasonably required, it will be deleted, anonymised or securely disposed of where practical.
8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of use, data portability, or to object to certain uses. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw that consent for future processing.
These rights are not absolute in every situation. For example, we may need to retain information where the law requires it or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
9. Website, cookies and external services
This version of the Broadacre website does not use advertising or audience analytics. It contains ordinary links to third-party services such as LinkedIn and The Talent Manager; if you follow those links, the third party's own privacy and cookie practices apply.
The contact form is processed through Netlify Forms. Netlify may process the information you submit, together with limited technical and security information used to deliver the form and reduce spam. The website does not currently load an embedded showreel. If embedded video, analytics or other non-essential third-party technology is added later, we will review this notice and introduce any cookie information or consent controls required at that point.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against accidental loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. No internet or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so information is handled proportionately to its sensitivity and the circumstances of the production.
11. Questions or complaints
If you have a question about your information, want to exercise a data protection right, or want to make a complaint about how your information has been handled, use the contact form or write to George.Richardson@broadacreproductions.com. We will acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days and take appropriate steps to investigate it without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice if the way the business or website handles personal information changes. The date at the top of the page will show when it was last revised.
